If you swap out to a larger cam in your 360, then you will probably need a larger convertor to match it. If you swap out the 25/2800 converter for a 3500rpm unit, your engine will feel like it has more power. You will get more seat of the pants performance from the converter swap than you will a cam swap in your application. Note: When I was running the Comp 270H cam in my 340, I swapped out my stock converter (apx 2500) to this TA 10" unit, and the seat of the pants difference was a huge difference and allot more fun to drive.
I have run my TA Tight 10" for six years on my 340. The first three years was with 3:55 gears and a 26" tire. The last 3 years I have run with 3:91 gears and 27" tires. I added a tranny cooler with the converter swap and I have never had any issues with heat or too much converter on the street. Looking back, I now wished that I would have gone with a tight 9.5" 38-4000 unit.

Converter for sure.... Then get around to your gear swap. Then..... forget about the juice cams your currently considering. If you're into this deal as far as 3500 converters and 3.91 gears, then you should be thinking Solid lifter cam at the very least.

I'm confused. Do you have a cam or not? You say you havent picked one but you spec a 268? Do you have a converter?
If you have the cam and converter, put it together and run it. You have a reasonable package already. Then you'll have better info for the next step.
If you don't have the cam, you could step it up and still be fine with the rest of the parts you have.
I guess it does sound confusing! I do have a cam and converter, xe268 and a 11" 2500-2800 stall converter. Do you guys think a hardened snout will hold up with a 100 shot? I guess I am paranoid about the small snout on the 904 converter.
