Hey moparts. I have an engine I purchased from a member here on moparts. And wanted to know is there a better cylinder head I can purchase other than the B1/ BA M/C head that currently on it. The engine is 455ci
4.25 crank billet
4.125 bore
12-13:1 comp
620 roller
R3 siamese 59 degree block.
Dyno sheets states it made 630 H.P. 650 ft. lbs of torque.
I have not run it in my car but know I want more power in the near future. Will an Indy or W-9 head pick up horsepower level. I would like to see 750-800 H.P.

Id call Ryan J see what he says..
My good buddy runs a W2 iron head 420 inch engine... No dominator, no roller.. made 630hp on the dyno.... Runs 6.20's in the 8th mile at 108-110 mph in a mini tubbed dart with cal tracks.... about 2900-3000 lbs car.
So yea Id say there is power in there somewhere.. if he can make his run like that... You know those B1 heads can make a good amount more done right.

Clancy's car...

I think a set of 245 cnc indys would get you in the 750 range. I made 650 or so with them 422 12.0to 1 4150 950 hp carb and 662 roller.More cubes, cam, compression I wouldn't see why you couldn't make that kind of power.

6.2 eighth mile at 110 doesnt sound like 630hp in a 3000lb car or so Ive been told. mine runs 6.15 at 111 eighth mile at 2985 and people tell me that is only 550hp

that moved center head should make way more than 630 horsepower, if that is what it is making now. i know ported they go around 350 cfm, as much or more than a big indy head. numbers are just numbers of course. That said, dont know much about that head, as not many are out there, but " in theory" it should make 700 horsepower easily. think they had like a 2.15 intake valve if i remember correctly. i know the much smaller b1ba head will make the kind of power this motor you are talking about currently, does.

I think some one is telling you wrong my 416 with indybrocks push my 3000 ride to 6.2x's at 110-110 in the 1/8 and its been 9.76 at 138 1/4 and every calculator I have put the numbers in is right at 620 hp at the flywheel.

Yep if anything I have heard his dyno is stingy....
And remember this
And E/T in some case (not all), mostly how eff the chassis is..
MPH is what to look at.

The calculator on Wallace Racing puts you at 650-665 flywheel hp.

thanks for the input I appreciate it I thought 550 sounded a little low for a car running 9.70s

I have a couple of questions for ya... whats all the
specs on your cam and what do you turn this up to
(on the dyno since you havent run it yet)... those
are usually a nice head.... 620 lift really says nothing

I'd run it first..

If it were mine I would plug the lifter holes. Rebore and hone for 48 degree lifter angle.

Call CFE for the badest W8 he can put together for it.

Cause most of the guys who have these heads are not selling them off their engines. LOL

FWIW Those calculators give you average horse power on a pass, not peak

I dont much about the cam specs. other than its suppose to be a 620 roller. I will definetly run it before i start tearing into the engine. If the dyno numbers are accurate then it should put my car in the 9.70 range or better. The dyno sheet is in the attachment of the first post.

Sorry I cant get the dyno sheet to post but, it was pulled to 6500 rpm. made peak 634 H.P. at 5700 Rpm, 650 ft. lbs. torque at 4600 rpm.
