Why draw through?
Blow through is the way to go.

Can you still get turbo's that are set up for draw through? I know a bunch of old school stuff was setup for that, but I don't think I've seen a new turbo setup for draw through in at least a decade. Just curious.

Just get a replacement turbo for an early 3.8 litre turbo buick, they were draw through. I see no problem in a draw through, and would build one if really doing it cheap and not needing huge power. You have to use a big enough carb, you don't want a restirction on the suction side. 3.8 Buicks used a Quadrajet.

The McInnes book is from the early 80s. I've got it and it's spotty at best. The draw through Buicks were replaced with blow through for good reason. Remember the old turbo Trans Ams? They had a draw through 301 and got pounded by the underpowered 6.6 T/As. Very few of them retain the old draw through setup.
Yes, you can make it work. However, if you're going to make the effort to turbocharge something do it right. You will be much happier in the end.

We had a draw through 318 years ago that ws basically stock and run high 13's in a '71 cuda. My opinion still is, that if you want to do a junkyard turbo build up easy, I would build a draw through. Get a carb and a turbo and some tubing from junkyard and build it; you'll end up spending less money thna th eprice of a new cam and definitely gain more performance.

Stock cams work fairly well with a turbo. You can build a blow through system cheaply and make more power than a draw through.

The carb needs changes, and the fuel supply needs to be pressurised, so itäs definitely more work. And if you are not trying to reach the moon, I still believe that a draw through set up needs less effort. Actually, I will most likely build a /6 with a draw through for 2012. I agree that if you are looking for the better set up, it's blow through, but it doesn't mean that a draw through is useless. A friend of mine built one with a centrifugal and run 9's with it. Later he converterd it to blow through with an intercooler, and cut about 0.5 seconds off his ET.
