Just purchased a new Milodon deep pan with external pick up to install in my Belvedere. After installing a new main cap girdle and oil pan studs in my 440 for this new pan, girdle and 2 Fel-Pro #1834 fiber/steel gaskets. Can some of you share your best experiences with your choice of adhesives and methods of installing this set up for a "NO LEAK" install??? The engine is in the car. I have Permatex Ultra grey, black and no tack that brushes on from a can. Thanks guys in advance!

I like 3m weather adhesive . I put a bead on the oil pan frame rail and lay the oil pan gasket right on top of it. .nothing on the other side. Less is more. If you use a good gasket and rail is even you should have no leaks. I like a thin film of grease on the block side of the gasket.then up it goes.

I use the yellow 3M also.I use a bit on both gaskets on the windage tray not the pan or block.Let it set up with a few bolts to hold the gasket in place. Then slip it on and install the pan.I did my 65 about 12 years ago.Used the MP gaskets that come with their tray and a Milidon tray.No leaks ever.Dont glue the gasket to the bloc. You will never get it clean if you have to replace the gaskets or pan.On the tray just pull it and use some 3m discs to clean when you change.Rocky

I use the same Fel Pro gaskets are your talking about with no sealants at all, put them on and tighten them up In fact I have stack several of them together to get clearances on the stock 6 pak street Hemi 6 quart oil pans to my 4.300 stroker motor No leaks yet

I like to keep my gasket in place on the pan ONLY. Its nice when you take the pan down and the gasket doesn't get ruined.

Thanks again guys.. I see many of yuou use several different methods and have had much luck in doing so. I will use the 3M to tack onto the windage tray and lightly grease up the other sides. My pan stud kit came with nylok nuts and washers so im in luck with that. **As for my girdle,I used permatex Ultra Grey between the block and girdle... Much appreciation to all that helped me here...
