Are you sure of the 2292 number? 2292s appear to be Ford 390 pistons??

Any chance they are 2295s? 2295s are a dome piston. Not sure off hand how big of a dome, probably .100 or so.

is it a flat top piston or does it have a dome ? 2295 is a 440 dome piston , should be 12.0

Hey John
I was hoping you would chim in
I do not know much about engine internalls.
But I am pretty sure these are flat tops they have a indent in the middle of piston & they look the same as the ones in my 383 on the floor. so if they are the correct #s & they are flat tops what would they be on compression

No idea then , but it should be easy to figure out , find out the bore size and how far in the hole , or out , the piston sticks , does it have valve reliefs ? I've never seen a dish piston in a 440 , even the low compression pig motors .

Since that is a 390 Ford piston not a 440 piston, bore size is more than 1/4" too small and the compression distance is more than 1/4" too low.
The compression would be ZERO.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

No idea what the number is, I can't see them from here to know what it is your are talking about.

If that is truly the number that is coming back as a ford 390 piston, so you are either working on a ford 390 and you think it's a 440 or the pistons are mismarked ???? or what you think is a TRW number is NOT.

I said I was not real keen on engine internalls. But I am not a complete idiot So no reason for going that direction again I was just looking for help.
thanks

Well you have been told by a number of different people that the number is a FORD 390 piston, all i picture is you doing this ... la la la la la la ... I can't hear you ... without actually SEEING what you are talking about a person can only GUESS , and that doesn't seem good enough for you.

I never said you were an idiot , but if the number is for a 390 piston there can ONLY be two answers ....

I have a 1982 TRW Engine Parts Specification Manual (for stock parts) and there is no 2292 piston in the book at all. .

My machine shop has a 1977 book not there either
I will just have to wait & measure pistons to see compression ratio thanks for looking though

I have a 1980 TRW Performance book too, but can't lay my hands on it. I think it's in the trunk of a car in the basement...

TRW pistons should have a number starting with L. Sealed Power/Speed Pro pistons should start with a P. Sealed power/Speed Pro forged pistons were TRW pistons with a number change.
