I just went to the Hoosier Stiff Sidewall's 10.5W on my Dart and OMG! What an awesome tire. On the stop the best 60' I ever had was a 1.44 and today at Phoenix Speedworld had a 1.383!!!!! I am impressed! Running them at 14 lbs and this ole Dart loves it. I left the caltracs and shocks at the same settings as with the old MT tires, so the gain was strictly from the tire.

The best 60' ever was at full throttle and that was a 1.41 so beat my absolute best on the stop.

I run a 32-13.5w stiff sidewall on the Arrow...don't tell anyone but this is going into my 4th season on this set. May have to spring for some new ones in the future. They do work well..

They dont last long. 38-40 passes with a small burnout. After that the 60 foot goes away.

I got more than 40 passes but I can tell how many
passes are on my tires based on the 60' times...
when they are new I get a 1.20 after 20 passes its
1.21 after 40 its 1.23 on the same track but after
that it seems to stay at 1.23 or so

I put on a set of Hoosier 31.5 12.5W (D-05) in an effort to get up on the tire faster. They grab like nobody's business. Going to a 2nd gear only burnout next to keep from trashing the front clutches; It really pulls my little small block down in 3rd unless rpm is way up there.

Mr P: They'll never be able to replace you as a Mod. Good job

Tried a set once and no matter what we did they just wouldn't work for us. Went back to Phoenix and got our 60 to work again. I was amazed that a tire change could go so wrong on my car.

Keith...I haven't raced as much as I use to the past couple of years ...but I would say still 100-150 passes a year...So on three years these tires are close to 400 passes easily...granted the car is #2300 race ready too.

Thats is pretty good to hear. I changed to 32/14.5w for this season for better 60's and more consistancy.

IMO Hoosiers are a Walmart type slick. Soft compound which works fantastic for about 38-40 passes and then little by little 60 foots go away. I believe the sidewall breaks down 1st and then its shot.
Mickey Thompsons and Phoenix seem to last the longest. But what do I know. I only 60 foot 1.21

You know that M/T and Phoenix work better with your particular combo! Each tire is different and each car is different - weight, gearing, torque, suspension, converter, carb set-up, footbrake/trans brake, track prep, etc. People also run different rim widths and different air pressures. Low air pressure or the wrong tire for the application will kill the sidewall. With so many variables, a broad statement about a whole brand of tire doesn't hold water.

I run my 9" Hoosiers until the wear holes are all but gone. I haven't counted, but runs are well over 100. My 60's have been as good as 1.47 - but that's at 3,550 lbs with a very rule restricted 360. Faster, heavy Stockers are well into the 1.30's with 9" Hoosiers. Just providing examples I'm aware of.

My ride is over 3300 lbs. heavy car and I see my 60 foots going away after 38-40 passes with Hoosiersregardless.
Same car with M/T I got over 180 passes and they still 60 foot the same.I change mine out every year regardless.
1.47 60 foot is that your best or was it 1.42 and then went to 1.47 as time went on?

1.47 was my best. Usually it's around 1.49 - 1.50 running in "bracket mode". I've seen it vary between tracks. It's also with only SS springs. 11.22 @ 116+ best. Sounds like you may have 1.5-2x the HP, much better suspension as well as wider tires.

First off congrats on the new bests. Alwasy good to run a new best on the car. We did the same yesterday, a new best with the stop bolted on the car running it all out. The stop slows the car .2-.25.

I think someone needs to attend a Div or National event and take a look in the Super Class staging lanes. I would say you will find a very large percentage of those cars running Hoosiers. We care more about 60' consistency than most racers do. FWIW I put 120+- passes a year on my junk. But what do I know I only 60' 1.15

In the end it boils down to your particualr combination. I have run Goodyear and M/T on the Cuda. They both have thier pros and cons. What tire is right for YOUR car depends on a lot of factors. I am using M/T 33x15 SS tires currently. They have a bit more roll out than I like but so far so good. Been very consistent especially on the stop. Previously I ran Goodyears for a couple of years and other than my turd of a car beating up the sidewalls they worked fine. BTW on ANY drag tire the sidewalls will go away before the tread wear dots do...
