Watching HP TV build a "alcohol" 383 SBC. How do they figure they have a 12.5 to 1 motor with a flat top piston and 64 cc heads???? The best I can come up with is 11.25?

They claimed they have a 12.5 to 1 motor...by the calculators, no way they are close.
With the cam they "said" they are using, basically a pump gas motor
The dude stated something to the lines of "You get all of this compression (12.5) by using a flat top piston? Huh.....So I was waiting for a mid 50ish cc head, nope. He then stated a 64 cc chamber.

about right with zero deck...I know with that 64cc head and flattops its usualy 10.5,11-1...the same head with a small dome that the fuelies used were 11.5...
maybe their writer just made a mistake...no add libbing

Maybe. But, the "big thing" was it being an alcohol motor. I dont think of a 11.25-11.50 comp motor with aluminum heads being an "alcohol" motor?

saw that, yea no way a flat top small chevy is 12.5:1 compression unless the head has chambers super small

Didn't he say they were using a .015" head gasket ?
Yes, he did, you would hope that the piston is close to .024 in the hole or they are nuts, IMO.
Even at zero deck with a .015 gasket you are still only at 11.8

Steel shim head gasket
Too many cars, too many parts, too little coin, too little space to work in, too little time left to make it all happen!
Update: down to one ride, still too many parts, a little more jingle in the pocket, gaining space, and it's going to happen this year!
