A '94 Dakota with a 318 should have a lockup 518 (actually a 46RH).
Each year brought improvements in the 518 so the latest, which was '95, would be the best. The 518 converter will bolt to any 727/904 flexplate with the 10" bolt circle.

The transmission part number is stamped in the drivers side pan rail, just below the shift lever.
If the trans is lockup you will need to control both the OD and the converter; this can be done with simple toggle switches or pressure switches in the governor test port.

There appears to be too many digit 1's in the basic part number, PK521(1)18730 should be 52118730.
52118730 is a 518 from a '92 Dakota 4 X 2 with a 318.

You'll have to fab a mount, the converter will bolt to any flexplate with a 10" bolt circle. Mileage gains? 30-40% seems unlikely.

95 and older a-500 uses 3 wire plug.
95 and older 518 uses 3 wire plug or 2 wire plug if it's non-lock up.
96 and newer use a bigger plug with something like 10 wires.
My old 94 dakota 318 definately had an a-500 as does my currant 91 318 dakota.
