I would like to repaint my daily driver beater truck. Its a 92' w150.I want to pain it up like a 79' Macho power wagon. The silver paint is peeling off every where so I thought I could paint it with implement paint to save some bucks ,and have a cool lookn truck.
Does anyone have any experiance using it?what to look out for or expect?I painted my 72 charger with a single stage paint 4 or 5 yrs ago.I don't want to spend that much on paint.Any info?
Thanks guys

Whatever brand you use, make sure you use a good quality roller !!!

try using boat topside paint, like Interlux's brightside. it's about $35/qt at west marine.

I hadn't planned on doing the roller method i was just going to squirt it on the truck.
So there might be an issue of the paint fading due to exposure from the sun? That would suck.

PPG has a cheap acrylic enamel single stage that should work very nicely ...

you can thin and spray the topside paint, too...it's basically a non-catylized single stage uerethane....

As much as I hate to admit it, I've heard good things from people who have used John Deere paint.

http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/John_Deere_Blitz_Black_paint

Just do a search for John Deere Blitz Black.

I looked at the paint in the rural king store we have here(just like a TSC) and it also has a hardner you can mix with it.I have a friend who shot his 1000 gal LP tank with some off white color.it looked ok ,but he didn't do much prep on it.
I wondered if i can wet sand it and polish it. I might have to jusr try it and see what happens.

John is right.. ppg low line paints are called the
"Omni" line. Available in acrylic enamel, single stage urethane, and Base/clear.

They work very well for a fraction of the cost of high line paints.

Check them out!!

TSC sells valspar paint. They have an automotive grade restoration series paint.Valspar owns House of kolor and is very good paint.if you use hardner it can be wet sanded and buffed.I got some for 1 cent once because the can was damaged and they couldnt give it away.I sprayed a 73 satellite with it and it worked great. This was black and it looked really good.I also sprayed a 1970 charger rt/se with valspar enamel (automotive grade) 6 years ago and it still looks great. The guy who owns it just sent me a recent picture. It is easy to run tho and does take awhile to dry.

I used the cheap tractor paint on my flat bed car haulin trailer. I thinned it and sprayed it on. I looked great but faded / oxidized very fast.
