Thanks!

hold the coil wire in your hand and crank the engine. if your hair stands straight up, it's good. if it only lifts a little, replace it! sorry, i couldn't resist

touch your ohmeter leads to the 2 pri terminals (on the low scale) & may get .9 ohms for the primary circuit. Then keep one lead on one of the (either one) pri terminals & touch the other one to the sec tower on X1000 scale for secondary resistance. This'll show that both circuits have or do not have continuity but a coil can (bench) test OK here and act up when hot but if you have a suspect coil this'll get you started

Don't feel bad. I almost said "Touch it to your tongue", but I refrained from such nonsense!

Actually, Rapids method does not guarantee that "it is good." You cannot really check a coil with an ohmeter. They can be arcing over at high speed, over-heating and shorting internally, etc.

Best way to check a coil is simply have a known good spare. "New" does not mean good.

Yeah the coil test requires the you have someone else crank the engine while you pee on the coil wire.. Yeah I'm a jerk too......
