The cummins is an awesome motor, but it is way too big and heavy for a car. Yes, it's been done but there is no good reason unless it's just for the novelty. A person would be way better off using a PSD or Duramax as they are far more compact and lighter. The front suspension of my 1 ton trucks isn't really up to the weight of a Cummins ISB.
Funny, people here often espouse the virtue of a small block over a big block for handling....can you imagine the handling using a motor that is 400 - 500 lbs heavier (and without all the aftermarket aluminum goodies available to make it any lighter)?

The 5.9 is huge but a Cummins 4BT would fit nicely. A 4BT is a quite a bit smaller and lighter but still extremely durable. They were commonly used in medium duty trucks like bread trucks. I have considered swapping one into my 72 Satellite.

There's one guy on here who swapped a 4bt cummins into his mopar wagon. A 4cyl cummins is supposed to weigh about what a big block weighs. A 6cyl cummins, well, much, much more.

Shipping weight on a 6BT is 1200 lbs. That's like having two small blocks under the hood.

Huge potential with minimal mods BUT the highest stock hp for a 12V was 215hp....not that anyone drag racing one would leave it bone stock. Probably meant stock engine internals, which is quite possible.

What a terrific idea. I think it would be great in a 69 Charger, then paint it orange and paint an 01 on the roof.

I had a 71-72 chrysler 300 that had a 400 in it was total fuel hog. Badly wanted a 12 valve for it, with correct gearing I would bet high 12s and 30 mpg. With the stock fuel tank I would think 800+ mile fill ups would be doable.

But with the torque of four small blocks.

CDL was why.
Didn't have room for the inner cooler. MPG was in the high 20's and made mountains seem flat.
