you can use straight lifters but the offsets clean up the pushrod angle some. Here is a pic:

When using the offset lifters you may have to clearence the 4 casting lugs in the lifter valley near the block deck for pushrod clearence.
On a 400 low deck with Indy 440-1 offset intake rockers, this is what it looks like.

My 440-1 heads on the low deck with non offset solid roller lifters didn't rub on the low deck block
Yes, we have been saying combining a low deck, 440-1 (or B1) offset rockers, and offset roller lifters. You didn't have all of them.

Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't I did notice on the 440 block that the 7/16 pushrods are very close to the block lugs. I forgot to mention, I think, that the low deck motor had 3/8 pushrods and the 440 motor has 7/16

Those pictures are good. So .485 lobe lift with your cams base circle and a bushed aluminum World block look fine with the IMM roller lifters. I think those are a great design. It looks like the top of the lifter is below the top of the lifter bore at zero lift. And the lifter sticks out roughly 3/8" at max lift.

if it matters I forgot to mention the oil hole in mine is parralel with the lifter galley and the hole in the lifter is at 2.5" on the ruler pic right above the cutaway
Yes, Brian mentioned that to me before, to avoid excess oil flow, not direct to oil galley opening. Which doesn't matter if the block is bushed.
This old pic from Brian must have been a prototype, because yours looks like it has a taller section above the cutout?

Our low deck with B1's didn't hit the block with offset lifters.
Allen, Did your factory low deck block have these casting bumps under the intake ports? I can't see behind the pushrods in your picture? It could just be close due to manufacturing tolerances.

My low deck (400) Indy Maxx with offset lifters required block clearance. There was also a problem with the FelPro 1039 gasket interfering with the pushrod.

I use standard roller lifters on my low deck with -1 heads and a 706/661 lift roller, Harland 1.5 rockers.
