tt76400 OP member T Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 162 Iowa	Yes, I know this has been done to death, and I do know how to ID a lockup IF the tranny is out of the vehicle, but is there any way to tell with the trans still in the vehicle? It's not driveable yet, so I can't take it out to "feel" it.

RapidRobert Circle Track R Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 36,041 Lincoln Nebraska	On a 904 on the tail housing about halfway back on the side on iirc the dr side there is a 2 digit # ie "77" which if it is past the year of the changeover to LU's then that'd confirm it. Not sure if 727's have this cast # (I'm a 904 guy) but it'd b an easy check/fast way to confirm/deny live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

I know my '78 Fury 318 2bbl/904 was a lock up, but my '84 W-150 was not as it was a "heavier duty" vehicle, I just didn't know if there was any external identifying marks. BTW, the link to that trans # id sight doesn't work
