Looking to see who( or knows somebody) who has broke an Erson rocker shaft, specifically the shafts used for the needle bearing rockers.
Im asking because I was told today by a person who probably knows as much or more as anybody about rockers (you can probably guess who), that it is a common problem with the Erson shafts. If you dont know the Erson shafts are .700 diameter. About .175 less than a standard diameter shaft. The wall thickness at the fastener location is reduced by .090ish on the top and bottom side of the fastener hole. He guessed and was correct that the shaft I have broke at the fastener locations. He suggests doing away with the needle bearings, bushing them and using standard size shafts.
I know that other mfgs use shafts diameter smaller than the stock diameter.
Wondering how common the breaking problem is

It all depends on what valve springs you're running. Run too powerful a spring and yes the cheaper rocker systems will fail.
Take care, Rick 68 Coronet R/T 440 & 68 Charger 528 Hemi,and 5 Challengers! 6 cyl, 318, 360, 383, 451

I wouldnt call the erson stuff cheap...about on par with the high end stuff. Way better than Crane, Dove, 440China, Probe, Hughes,etc....The rockers themselves are up in the T&D range. My and somebody who actually knows rockers (RAS) also.

We, ran them on the enginemaster entry , they held up fine for about 80 dyno pulls ,6700ish RPM .
I assume that the RAS shafts are not the right diameter?
You could make your own shafts and get them hardened ?
If that person told you to ditch the needle bearings and bush to use stock shafts you might want to consider that .
