I don't have a picture of my engine compartment showing the fuel line, I ran the 1/2 line in the same way as the stock 5/16 was ran by the factory My car is a 1971 Duster with a BB and fender well headers, the headers don't get close(close meaning less than 6 inches) to the fuel line anywhere other than when it hooks up to fuel regulatorThe fuel regulator is mounted on the backside of the elephant ears directly under the alternator, it might be close to six inches there. the motor and headers are out of the car right now so I can't measure them to see, sorry

I am asking this because nhra techs gave me a laundry list of stuff when I had my dart.one of the things was the fuel line.It had to run on the outside of the rail so if a ujoint or a clutch explosion it wouldn,t damage the fuel line. This is going to be manly a street car but I am going to play around at the track at times.I just don,t want no hassels from them.Places like maple grove are not kind to mopars

I just ran mine along the driver side frame rail. The rules say it must have 16" 1/8" tube around it in the bellhousing area for non steel braided lines.

Start out at the tank, run the line/braided hose next to the frame inside of the spring area, cross over to the outside of the frame area at the front and terminate at the pressure regulator on your inner fender well area, this could very for your preference but not on the firewall.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I ran mine straight forward from the pump mounted at the right rear corner of the right rear subframe up along the sub frame and then straight forward to a hole in the trans crossmember and then along the inside of the right front sub frame to the elephant ear. You must enclose the fuel line in a piece of .125 wall thick steel tubing one foot forward and one foot behind the flywheel(if it is exposed to the flywheel or torque converter) I used a piece of 1 5/8 roll bar tubing 24 inches long attatched to the front sub frame with clamps and slid a piece of 1/2 I.D plumbing insulation around the fuel line inside the roll bar tubing to make sure the fuel line didn't rub or vibrate against the steel tubing. I also clamp the fuel line to the sub frames and in one spot to the floor with adaile(SP?) clamps to hold it tight so it wouldn't vibrate or rub against any other parts. I also used a pice of 1/2 inch rubber fuel line that I split so it would slide over the fuel line as a insulator and rock guard under the flat part of the floor

There is an exception in the rule book (check it out), enclose the fuel line in a 1/8" wall thickness steel pipe if you run it on the inside of the frame rail. This is how my car was changed to when the fenderwell headers were put hunging the outside of the frame rails.
