Dude can you get some good pictures of that plug top, bottom, inside, out, etc? I want to make or get one if possible.

Assembly plant?

Lynch Road as one example did not code the radio on the tag.

This one is from Newark DE, Plant code 6. This car is a vert if that make a differance.

But you said;

Just wondering, got a 70 RR with antenna but no radio....Thanks all.

No Road Runners from Newark, DE - so now I am confused.

Could the "6" be a G for St. Louis perhaps?

I worked for a Chrysler Dealer while I was in high school during the mid to late 50's, most or all cars came without an antenna mounted in the fender even if they came with a radio. The antenna with a mounting template was in the trunk of the car. We drilled the fender and mounted the antenna on those new cars. Idea behind it was that cars coming to the dealer with an antenna would be vandalized and the antenna broken off while in transit.

Late 60,s thru mid 70,s they came in like that. Some hack,s used a punch to go thru the firewall for the cable.

Their would be no reason for the factory to waste parts (and money) by installing an antenna and cable on a car that was not built with a radio.
Perhapes at some point in the cars life , someone has installed a radio (and antenna), perhapes even a dealer installed unit .

Maybe somebody replaced the fender at some point. Could have been same color and would you know?

Any NOS fenders I've ever had did not have the hole cut thru.

This is sorta of a brand "X" story but my parents bought a new 1983 Olds Delta 88 and my father ordered the car with out a radio so he could put his own brand in it.
That car didn't have anything for a radio, the fender wasn't drilled and none of the wiring was in the car or any speakers. Needless to say it was a pain to put a radio in and my mother nearly had a heart attack watching my father drill a hole in the fender for the antenna.

So knowing that 1983 didn't come with anything I could see the older stuff not having it as well.

i started working in a plymouth dealer body shop in 77 at the age of 14 1/5 so my memory may not be perfect.
when you got a new fender from chrysler almost none of them were drilled for antennas. there were markings on the back of the fender but there were no holes. i have replaced several 68- 70 b body 70-74 E bodies, 68-76 a bodies. some volare fenders started to have holes in them almost all of the horizons. if i remember correctly if you ordered a volare without a antenna there was a plug in the hole. i know horizons without radios had plugs in the hole also.

My '73 340 Duster did not have a radio from the factory. The hole in the fender appeared to be original since there was an additional notch to prevent the bezel from spinning. The original paint was still on the car when I bought it in '84 but had an aftermarket antenna mast installed.
So I think all the '73 A-body fenders were stamped regardless of radio or not.

correct me if I'm wrong .did any 66 Coronets come with antenna mounted on pass. side rear quarter ? My 500 had its antenna mounted on the quarter round hole with little notch in it . When I restored the 500, the pass side fender also had a hole with notch but there was a plug that was almost punched out but still connected next to the little notch.
looks like the plug was then leaded in.

Challenger...

On a few original window stickers I have seen from 70-73 A bodies, even if it had a radio, it was not coded there on the window sticker.
I know the b/c sheet and/or fender tag would have it, but why not on the window sticker since it would be an ordered extra cost option to add to the total.

I had a '63 Dodge Polara 4 door that didn't come from the factory with a radio and there was no hole in the fender.

I had a 68 Dart GTS that didn't come from the factory with a radio and it had a plug in the fender just like the one on the 73 Satellite fender shown in the picture above.

Would a radio delete car have come with a speaker? If not what was used under the dash to close off the speaker hole ?
