Anybody use them and how did they work out in helping your ET? Also, did they clean up your idle quality ?

They work very well on the older slower ramps like the MP Purple shafts, I've found they helped the off idle response and maybe a little uppeer bottom torque, especially on shorter stroke motors like 340's and 383's.

I don't think I'd want to try them on the modern fast ramps like the Bullet/;ater U'Ds or the Comp XE's

For ET, probably not, I ran nearly all 4 speed stuff back in the days (late 70's early-mid 80's so I was normally dumping the clutch at a higher RPM than any of the bleed down would have effected.

That said they'ed be most beneficial in apps where the converter was borderline tight for the cam or if the combo was slightly under-geared.

I bought a set to tame down my old 284/484 Purple cam thats in my 383 69 Superbee. It does idle alittle better but it depends on what weight oil im running too. 20-50 seems to run better than 10-30??

The other thing it helped on was vacuum at an idle, I gained 2in.


All I can say is they worked for my engine combo. I hate that camshaft with how rough it runs but the lifters made it live-able till I install a diffrent cam.

I have a set in a Ford 302 with an older style cam and they do what they claim. This motor idles and pulls down low much better than it should for the cam thats in it. They are noisey, sound like solid lifters that need adjusting after the oil warms up.
