Well I started a post on the South Chrysler Assembly Plant being torn down. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...part=1&vc=1This is a post on the removal of the North Assembly Plant. The North plant assembled over a million Dodge Rams. http://www.autospectator.com/cars/chrysl...llionth-dodge-r The plant was closed for good in early July 2009. Chrysler has implemented an early idling of the St. Louis North assembly plant. With this change, the Dodge Ram 1500 Regular Cab, which was previously built at St. Louis, will now be built at Saltillo, starting with the 2010 model. Lets see some Rams that were built at the north plant. I will be posting some pictures of the progress.

The 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck was built at two Chrysler manufacturing facilities in the United States, St. Louis North (Fenton, Missouri) and Warren, Michigan; 2009 Dodge Ram Crew 1500 crew cab and Quad CabŪ pickups will be built at Warren Truck. Ram standard cab and Quad Cab pickups were built at St. Louis North until 2009, when the plant was shut down. RamBox production moved at that time from St. Louis to Warren.
With over a $400 million combined investment at the two assembly plants, each facility underwent extensive upgrades. Enhanced processes and new technology will also benefit future product launches and product variants due to the greater levels of flexibility.
In St. Louis North (closed in summer 2009), the body shop was completely rebuilt, with the addition of 210 new robots and more than one mile of new conveyor, including an extensive use of clean, quiet, friction-drive conveyance systems.
The Warren Assembly Plant added a 200,000-square-foot body shop with new automation, including 270 new robots, several new conveyors and use of a fast, quiet pallet conveyance system. In both facilities, the trim, chassis and final areas implemented a new sun roof installation process as well as modifications to the seat delivery system.

I went by the North Plant last week to take a look and see what they had done. They had started tearing down the outer walls of the 9190 Department, where they processed vehicles for shipping. The whole complex looks soooo different now that the South Plant is gone.
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Updates, about a month's worth. I thought that
there were only picture savers looking at this
topic. I hope some of you will at least comment and
stop being lurkers. How about a roll call of those
who want me to keep posting MCM progress. Any way
here are some highlights of the north office
building being demolished.

Now it's gone forever.
Now that we have abandoned the plant we don't want it going to give a leg up on or competition. Piss on you former employees - Chrysler L.L.C.
I never even thought of that angle. I thought maybe they were in it for salvage value.

This is sad for all of us, not just the St. Louis area. IMO, the failure is on the American people, for not supporting their own products. I want to go vomit somewhere right now.

The week day rent a cop that is guarding the end of Maraz Ln, Is a work in progress. He was trying to say that the road Private property. I told him if it was then it would be blocked off or fenced, like everything else. Need less to say my charm and good looks got me out smoothed out the situation. Well don't let my run in stop YOU from seeing MCM progress. They are half way through the plant. And they have some new signage that can see from space. My guess is that they are going to use google earth to help advertise the empty plot of land.
This is the final dis-assembly of an assembly plant.

That's an "as built" shop drawing for the paint room done by Midwest Conveyor (subcontractor), apparently the addition was done in 1986? Left behind because it's worthless now? As builts are rarely referenced unless an addition is being planned anyway, otherwise they're just taking up space as "too important to throw away" documents. Robert

That's not the only locomotive on site. These are just sitting, since they aren't hauling in parts or out vehicles. There are about two dozen of them.

Now that there is nothing left, They want there money back. http://www.kmov.com/news/local/Mayor-of-...-128623753.htmlKMOV.com Posted on August 29, 2011 at 6:47 PM FENTON, Mo. (KMOV) The mayor of Fenton is requesting that the citys portion of unused money intended to qualify for a federal grant for the site of the former Chrysler plant in Fenton to be returned to the city. St. Louis County, the city of Fenton and the state of Missouri contributed $2 million that was used to qualify for a grant to create a marketing plan for the former Chrysler plant site. Fenton Mayor Dennis Hancock is asking for $81,000 back from the $131,000 that the city contributed for the grant that went unused. The Fenton Board of Alderman recently passed a preliminary resolution to withdraw from the partnership with St. Louis County on the project. Mayor Hancock says he would use the extra money to give city employees raises and believes St. Louis County is trying to spend the extra money on regional projects. Douglas Rasmussen, of the St. Louis County Economic Council, says the regional projects will benefit the city of Fenton because the council wants to attract international markets that could import and export from the site.
