Don't know if they made them in '64, but here is a 1965 Dodge Dart wagon.

Good sleeper with extra weight over the back wheels for traction!

They must have had them in '64 since I found some pics of 1963 models.

No , man.............a Volare.
Mine.
God help me once I get the Dart done.........because this one is next.
And I need a large infusion of cash to pull it all off.

I'm for an '82 Town&Country with the wavy fake wood grain and an "80 Aspen front clip.
The hood should be bent in front of the hinges and a cheap MAS hood scoop bondo'd on.

Thencut it into a pickup truck with a plywood bulkhead and plexiglass rear window.

A trailer hitch that is bent to pcs.

The tail lights should be the round Farm and Fleets bolted to the rear wood bumper, that has Dale Jr. stickers on it.

Rusty/pitted mismatched Cragars up front with rusty '78 Imperial rims out back.

Any color will work, NO FAKE PATINA!!!!!!

I still like the aspen wagon with wood grain panels. Or a dodge omni.

a 62 dodge that runs 7s or 8s(and looks stock) would be so cool...not tooo keen on the station wagons..unless it was a 62 or 63.

Okay... maybe i'm a bit more distrustful or paranoid when it comes to street racin' than most here... but there is a definite science when it comes to sleepers, and half ov that is psychology. When i'm snoopin' through the lanes for tricks i look for the smaller cars. Age or make/model count for nothing... i'm not a 17 year old idiot in a 'hot' 5.0L, i'm looking for sleepers. ANY G-body can be a sleeper, just like any Fox body can. Anything small. Most other 'paranoid' spotters will agree... so go big. BIG.

Try a C-body. Get the right one and they're not much heavier than a 68-up B. Opt for some creative weight-reduction and you could be lowering that 800HP bomb into a 3500-3700lb car. NO ONE suspects a full size, not hot rod guys, not punks, and certainly not the layman. Full size trucks, vans (if you dare), how ugly do you want to get? Go one further... go for the elite full-size... try an Imperial (or Caddy, Lincoln)... even cars guys that are paranoid and can hear the power would second guess it, or you might just win because they're too busy laughing or spitting out their drinks to shift... A 20ft car that weighed 5200lbs off the lot could still see pretty close to 4000lbs race weight and pass for a 'cruiser' to most (more importantly, who would look...???)... and there are many fast 4000lb cars out there. The only downside... you need a lot ov power to go really fast, but you've got a lot ov engine...

Personally, i dont think an A or B-body 4-dr makes a good sleeper. Anything that shares sheetmetal, especially front clip aesthetics with s musclecar (ie: that 4dr B in the picture) can make a car guy, or even some punk wonder. Likewise the wagons. Wagon race cars are everywhere... its been a cool trend for years and years. You're not fooling anyone. Well... unless its a 71 Fury Suburban or a 69 T&C wagon...

More than anything else, its not the make/model that makes a sleeper, its the concept and probably most ov all, the execution. One ov the most insane sleepers i've ever heard ov was in fact a muscle car... a 66 or 67 Chevelle posted on here a while back.

The best sleeper i've ever seen in person (by FAR) wasn't some ugly old 60's Dart, or a Volare wagon with rust holes, or a K-car... it was a really nice looking 67 fastback Mustang. It looked like a nice cruiser, sounded healthy, though not nasty by any means... your average 350-375HP 351 build through a FM exhaust-healthy. It had small tires, maybe 9" out back and no littles up front, no bar or cage, no scoop... A car your wife would drive...

He got kicked off the track his first run out with a 9.5 second run and a LOT ov MPH...

I'd vote for a beat up G-body too, but he said it has to be a Mopar. A BBM with TTI headers should fit though

Extra rear overhang plus a short 106" wheelbase.
The Dart sedan/hardtop was 111", Valiants were 106", D and V wagons were 106". The Dart wagon is basically a Valiant wagon with a Dart front clip.

How about a k-car 4dr or wagon. I've seen a couple of them converted to V8/rwd. Getting spanked by a k-car....

A 4dr late 60's coronet or satellite sedan or wagon would also be a cool car to drive and make for a nice sleeper that would hold a hot big block no problem.

The wagon is in NC.The wagons are not that heavy. Buster with the bigblock was like 3,400 but it was all stock. You can get weight out real easy.I bet you can get one to 3,100 and look real stock.

Well you can guess that I'm going to recomend a truck. A mid 60's Sweptline that's been through a few owners got it's share of rust and dents. They've got enough room under the hood to hide a tunnelram, blower, or turbos without cutting the hood. Also enough room for decent headers and exhaust. Their high center of gravity will also help transfer weight on launch, you can also hide a fuel cell right in front of the rear bumper.
It's not a Mopar but there are a couple great video clips on U-Tube of a '70 Chevy pickup. Look under Farm Truck. The guys got a rusted out dented up, pickup with duct tape covering holes, a coat hanger for an antenna, cracked windshield, one dented hubcap, paper coffee cup on the dash, beat up old topper, and an airhorn from a semi, with a pizza delivery sign on top of the cab. It runs 10.50's@125. Dave

Funny you should ask as I've been thinking of doing this to my 430,000 mile 92 Dakota club cab but with a turbo small block. The truck has been beat to death on the outside, front end wrecked, no bumper, right rear crashed and right side bed caved in. The drivers side is better but not by much. It still drives and runs fine, I drive it everyday but man would it make a great sleeper.

Here you go $600.00 and it's yours. You can drive it home.

It's even got a cool name(Lee-Roy Brown)

I really wish you hadn't posted that.
I paid a good bit more than that and trailered it home from Indiana.
In it's defense , it is a Volare and has buckets...........

Sure wish Ilived close by you, my wife would love that car!

Hmmm. How bad do you want one?
I've got a 77 Priemere 360 all-o-riginal woody that could use a new home (same color). I think we're about 11 hrs apart?

Pics, Price, condition?

Got my pic mojo working...

Ed, I'd build a clapped out 4 door 68 Satellite. That or a Dakota pickup.
