The other day I was thinking about some 3 second passes as it was being discussed by some internet racers. They were talking about " easy 3's" once this gets fixed, that gets fixed and so forth. Now friends, its one thing to run a low 4.20 or so. Its another to run a 3-anything! Its funny how people throw around the ETs like they are on the shelf at WalMart just to purchase when ready... Sooo, being winter, thought it would be cool to throw some video's up there for fun, and you can make a pass inside a 3 second Pro Top Outlaw car. These cars are pretty cool, still on a very grassroots sportsman level, ( for most, not ALL..lol)and certainly fast. The first link is our car, with Bob Frigon driving his Spitzer 451" Hemi, against the new ET record at the time, Sheldon Bissesar of Trinidad. Although Bob got treed a bit, he was charging hard with the " kitchen sink" tune up... Bon set the class MPH record on the same run as Sheldon set the ET record.Bob usually hits the tree hard, was just not in the cards that day. Its racing. Scott Koffel is a big part of this Pro Outlaw series and deserves much credit for his behind the scenes efforts, along with the Lake Erie Monster.Anyone with any interest of helping sponsor the Pro Top Outlaw class for 2011, can get ahold of Scott as well ( I know...I know..shameless plug ) The second video is the in car pass from Sheldons car. As you can see, this " easy 3 second" thing isnt quite so easy. Not your mothers' Oldsmobile. Whats really cool about these guys is for the most part they all just get along, actually talk to each other at the races, no egos, no BS, and you can see at the end Bob is the first guy to come congratulate the winner. Its a cool deal.If someone needs a part, there are often many people offering up their help, even if it means getting taken out. These cars are NOT screw blower cars either. Just throwing it out there for some Winter fun....carry on.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6Ka4L3Uwqw&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agtKMlejjKM&NR=1

Pappas has a BAD machine for sure....that is just monster. Now if we can find a way to get his budget....hmmmmm... There is no doubt that the door car scene is really on the edge...the number of fast door cars seems like it has grown 4 fold over the last 5 years...its really something to see. I've watched the Division 1 Top Sportsman cars go from Top Sportsman to mild Pro Modifieds basically...nuts.

Depending on the weight of the door car it takes 3000+ horsepower to get it done. We've been 4.30 at 2950 pounds on a 10.5W.
Does'nt quite take 3000hp to get it done in a door car. There is not a nitrous Pro-Mod in the country that makes that kind of steam, yet the quickest nitrous, door car is 3.81.
As far as "easy" 3s...no such thing. I have some auto Pro-Mod customers, who have spent thousands and thousands of dollars, to get from low, low, 4.0s, to that elusive 3 sec number. It's tough
When you get to that point though, it is usually not about power. If you have the power to go a low 4.0, you likely have the power to go 3s. It is all about the combination at that point and putting it down. When the stars align and you make that "best ever" pass, with your best ever 330 numbers and you best ever backhalf number, enjoy it, because it may be a while before you put that together again.....but thats what keeps us all going back. That elusive "best ever" pass

Bill Lutz is building a twin turbo hemi i am sure will make a good effert.
We're building a twin turbo BAE hemi right this minute. Bill has been a 10.5 guy so assuming he remains in that class it will be dependant on the weight of his car.

Bob, that Mustang that you help with is one of the baddest on the planet. Especially what is happening with it now. Can't wait to see it. The money, engineering, and most of all driving that these guys have to do to get 3000 plus hp to hook on the small tires is incredible.
Thanks Rick. Yes we got that deal to run pretty well. The new hemi motor is my dream come true. I finally got Doug talked into it and now it's on.
