Needing some advice on a future build,I have alot of old parts laying around my shop I would like to use.
65 Coronet 440-727,8 3/4,frames tied
68 440 .040 over with cast flattops
stock steel crank with stock 535 rods with ARP bolts
fresh stock 906 heads with Comp Cams springs
509-292 purpleshaft cam and lifters, Cloyes true roller chain
Melling oil pump and Moroso pan and windage tray
Eddy CH4B or RPM intake?
750 vac. second. Holley
Carter mech. pump
Mallory Unilite ignition
Hedman 1 7/8's headers and flowmasters
10" TCI street fighter converter and 391's
Any chance this car can get in the 12's? It will be steet driven occasionally and go to the track a few times a year,any advice on my combos will be greatly appreciated!

that combo should easy do some 12 sec passes !

I would exchange those pistons for something else to get the compression up and get some head porting work done or aftermarket heads so that thing can breathe. The 509 is a pretty big cam for a hydraulic, basically 252* @050 I think. You will need some high compression and decent head flow because that thing will want to rev. RPM intake for sure. If all you want it 12's, I would step down to a smaller cam to get something more street friendly.

what pistons? how far in the hole? Basic rebuild on the heads?I'm thinking the compression will be kind of low for that cam. there's a few current threads on that cam right now with some combo's and such, do a search. i'm sure others will chime in.

should do 12's, I'd try a 750DP carb. That cam isn't going to pull a ton of vacuum. What is the 10" convert? If it's over 3200 you should be good. I'd use a RPM.
