I will definitely consider that, B1.
Kinda want to stay with the mopar scheme, but the hole in hood is 3in tall and pretty long, and in a weird spot.

What car??? I went w/ a 4" cowl, but if it was an A-body I would have used a Hemi scopp, if it was a 66-67 B I would have used a WO scoop. Depends on the car.

I really dislike cowl hoods on Mopars. The tall hemi scoops look like someone's trying to compensate for something.

It's hard to do something on a Charger that looks good. They never came with scoops so they all look out of place.

I went with the sixpack scoop on my 70 Chargervert. I installed it from the underside to prevent cracking issues. I don't care for Chevy scoopps on Mopars.

While it may be a little late, the size and location of that cutout pretty much means you will have an offset scoop or a scoop that is about 4' wide.

Any scoop 4'wide will be odd looking. If you do a bird catcher you will be catching a lot of drag.

If looks are important and you could reroute the intake tube to be more centered, you could have a better looking scoop. Maybe build a flat wider tube instead of a round wide tube.

Myself, I would reroute the tube and graft a 70 superbee style on it.

I am not into cowl hoods on mopars but it looks like that is you best choice for aerodynamics if you can't move that tube.

I'm not against cowl hoods on Mopars (except early B-bodies). However, 68-70 Chargers are a real tough one to do just about any scoop because of all the contours of the hood. Couple years ago I saw black 70 Charger with a 70 Road Runner skin (air grabber) grafted onto the Charger hood. Looked GREAT! Maybe you could do something like that... Just a little taller and wider. Or maybe you could do something with the Charger hood skin. Like raise it up and turn it into it's own buldge hood. I saw this effect done to a 68 Superbee hood and it looked pretty slick.

I say leave it! I drove around for a year with no hood showing off my Procharger.

I like the look of the stock hood with that hat sticking through. Like someone said, any scoop looks out of place because they never came with one.

If there must be a scoop I would say a wider cowl that goes across most of the hood. Not just a generic Chevy scoop but maybe two grafted together to make a wide one.

A good friend of mine built this car. He did a great job of blending the two hoods, especially when you consider that he's not a bodyman. That car has a Eddy headed 500" six pack backed by a 4 speed. He didn't cut corners when building it and it turned out nice.
He sold off his Chargers (one wing car to go) and got into Harleys because those guys don't sit around in parking lots collecting dust.
