Make your kids do it! my daughter has helped me prep 5 allover repaints, getting pretty good at it too. but seriously the fine wire brush on a drill will get you started, followed by folded over sandpaper then 3M dark red scuff pad and oh-yeah a couple of hours of time

How about a 36 grit disc on a grinder?
OP is looking for advice to prep,not strip
Red scuff pads always works just fine

I will add to remember to clean the area out with high pressure air hose. At least 5 seperate times, throughly at every angle possible. That ia a giant trap for crud to wreck a fresh paint job.. BTW, I used a paint stick with scuffin pads on mine...
