Hey folks, thinking of adding super stock leaf springs to my ride. How difficult is the modification? I think you have to add an extra hanger, dom they bolt on or weld on? Thanks for any info

Depending on what vehicle you're adding the springs to yes, you'll need the front SS spring hanger...SS springs are shorter requiring the longer front hanger on some vehicles...It's pretty much a bolt-in deal....And remember to choose the correct load range spring for your vehicle...EDIT: And one more thing to help in your thought process on the SS springs...The springs are designed to level the car out during the launch...This in turn will leave the car slightly raised on the passenger side compared to the drivers side when looking at the vehicles tire clearance...Some people don't seem to notice, others hate the look...

well I don't want the car to look uneven. I just want to give it a slight raise in the back for a bigger tire

I would contact Mancini racing for HD springs I believe they use a local spring shop in Detroit to make their springs.
They also have package deals with bolts or shackles sometimes

Yea,I checked Mancini but found another place 100$ cheaper http://www.mopartsracing.com/ so if the SS springs are a bolt-on app I will get them from here. Just didn't want to do any welding

I added ss springs to my 65 ordered two right side springs and that gave the lift I wanted & she still goes straight on launch. Works for me.

Yep, using two of the same side is a good idea for a street car. Two right side springs will be stiffer than two left side springs so a person can "build their own" by ordering the different part numbers.

2 right sides or 2 left sides, depending on how much arch you need; the right sides have more arch.
Alternatively, you can crank the LF torsion bar up to level the car side-to-side.

I installed a set on my 63 Savoy and they fit with the stock hangers. Wish i'd used two lefts though as it does set higher on the right.

Honcho, I believe the difference between left & right springs is the number of leafs . I used 2 rights on my street car to get an even stance and still have good(great) spring reaction on launch. Plus I was afraid that different spring rates(l-r) might affect handeling in curves.

It's a 65 satellite,3450 lbs. I used 2 R-side 3400 lb. springs.gave me the height I wanted in back, car hooks up well, & nothing scary on curvy mtn. roads. I hope you understand that these s.s. springs give a stiffer ride than stock. Not uncomfortable, but stiffer(much better than air shocks)

62-63 B body cars can use stock hangers. All the other B body cars need longer hangers. The hangers are different for Ply and Dodge cars and they vary by the model year. Mancini Racing has all of the correct hangers, you just need to tell them which car you have and what year it is.

Some left side ss springs have the lowest spring (1/2) facing rearward. Don't think you want that on pass side.
