i have a 77 volare 225\6 i've been rebuilding pretty much from scratch. i tracked down the wiring harness to the nss, but i cannot figure out where to plug it into the rest of the harness. i've looked at a couple wiring diagrams and i just cannot figure it out. i must sound retarded, but this is the last thing i need to hook up so i can have key ignition/reverse lights/gauges.

Well then you need a wiring diagram , if you have something connected there wit ha push button between to wires then that would be where it goes I would guess ? I had a 78 LeBaron , , M body , the connector , if I remember right , was on the pass side of the engine compartment on the firewall .... I THINK .

i have a wiring diagram that has gotten me this far and chilton that i will put in my camp supplies as extra tp (worthless), there is nothing on the passenger side except the ignition module and the starter relay... so i guess my question is really where the hell is the bulkhead on a 77 plymouth volare \6?

The bulkhead connecter is the one with all the wires connected to it that lead to the inside of the car. It's the big wiring block on the firewall.

i don't see any large interface going into the firewall. just a couple smaller ones.

i have a big blown up printout of this:

but i don't see the bulkhead connector on the firewall.

How about taking a picture of your firewall and we should be able to point out where you need to be looking.

It should be right behind the engine, multiple wires.

I thought for sure that the NSS wire went from the trans to the starter relay.

Neutral Safety Switch should be attached to starter relay.

i figured out the brown/yellow wire, but what about the double plug w/ blk and blk/wht, there's no where close to stick it.

That is the wiring for the back up lights and shouldn't stop the car from starting.

isn't one a ground wire? generally that's important to completing the circuit.

i've got an uncle who's a mechanic but more important, his shop has a huge library of service, parts, and repair manuals. he'll help me, i was just looking to avoid the constant reminders that i am not a mechanic and prone to doing mechanical things poorly.

don't swing harder, get a bigger hammer.

your diagram shows a single wire (vio-blk terminal "p" of the bh connector) going to the rear lights connector and a single white running to the connector to the underdash turn indicator switch.
I'm not sure of your nss, does it have 3, or 4 wires. The body of the switch itself may be providing the ground. I can't recall if you are using a new nss, how many wires in it's connector. I believe it's 3?

The NSS grounds through the trans case. The center terminal of the NSS is the start ground for the starter relay. The two outer terminals on the NSS are the in and out for the back up lights and it doesn't make any difference which is which.
