Charger R/T hood with a louvered insert from a seller on Moparts. It was billed as very solid with little filler and minimal pitting.

Well, thankfully there is no rust. However, stripping it revealed massively ugly metal damage concealed by 30 pounds of bondo some type of metal based filler.

No response from seller so I must make do.

I need some advice on going forward with restoration. There is severe divoting and pot metal filler on the front right where the flat blends into the radius of the bulge. Same thing in the rear by the hinge areas.

Take a look at the picture and see if any here have a recommendation for repair ideas.

Thanks Moparts.

Why not get a repop hood?

In my opinion the best way to repair that hood is to seperate the inner structure to gain access. It takes me less than 45 minutes to spilt them. Carefully drill out the spot welds around the front and sides and peel up the rear and it will slide right out. Much easier to hammer and dolly without the brace in your way. I have repaired at least 3 71 Ramcharger hoods this way. That is a 40 year old hood that stands six feet tall, at this point they all have some evil lurking under the paint. This will be a good way to do it right.

That wouldn't work out to well. Believe me.

I will take that option under consideration.

Thanks.
