Put it in place and find an old small block piston or a piece of aluminum that is slightly bigger than the seal--get it all level on the bench and one whack it will go in fine--maybe two if you are timid--just try and get it started square--You can put another piece on the piston to have a good place to whack---double check the little tensioner spring around the seal to make sure you did not knock it off--if so pop it right back on and keep rolling

I just knock em out with a flat end driver or chisle.............3" exhaust pipe fits perfect when installing those seals.
Large flat blade screw driver and a BFH and give wack it will come out.

Thx for replies. Anyone had any luck pressing the old seal out of the cover housing?
This is not possible since the steel shell of the seal is inside the cover, what would you push on ?

No there are a number of ways to remove the seal , but doing it in a press isn't one of them unless you are also trying to destroy the cover.
