Do the orange mopar ECU's have a built in rev limiter?

No.

In stock applications I've always found the valve springs act as the rev limiter before the ECU gives up.

The newer Mopar Performance orange boxes will never get my endorsement, as I have had several fail. I run chrome boxes on everything now with a factory style ECU that I own, even my motorhome.

My orange boxes that have failed have all had restarting issues, no fire in the hole when the engine was warm and sat for 10-15 minutes. They basically restarted when they felt like it.
I still have one of the new orange boxes sitting in the glovebox in my motorhome, it failed within a week, it's not my spare, I just never got around to tossing it.

I like the MSD digital 6 box too, it's what I chose for my Coupe.

I would throw a MSD6AL in it and be done. If you ever want a two-step or a multi-stage timing retard you can add them on.

i found my new orange box from the 80's and just changed it out for my orange one that melted down the firewall....guess these newer ones melt....still works ...maybe keep it as a spare....

I'm very happy with Accel 300+ boxes, they have a rev limiter that you can set and I have over 125K miles on one in my '93Sub.
But my '64Dog has a Direct Connection orange box and nary a hiccup from it either. I think the later orange boxes may not be as reliable.
