It's a catch 22. The 1K price tag is appealing enough to think it's well worth it, but when you tally up the time, expense, etc at the end of the day it's an undocumented car...if you make it a labor of love and you always wanted one, and you enjoy the challenge than go for it. P.S the car isn't in Staten Island is it? I know of 2 70 RR ragtops, 4 speeds, being off the road for many years..one is B7,white gut, top 4 speed..I remember it being a very solid car, although it needed a resto it was complete and had a fender tag.

$1k is getting in on the ground floor. If you don't have loads of cash (and who does anymore?) to get into a documented, solid driver, then build it how you want to do it and don't misrepresent it when it's done. You'll save money doing it yourself as others have mentioned. You might also consider the purchase of a reasonably clean, similar model donor car. That $5k ragtop off CL was a once-in-a-lifetime screamin' deal. I wouldn't hold my breath for another one of those to come around...

The latest RR convert 4-speed projects sold (besides the $5K one) were $12-14K, albeit much better shape, and probably less 10 over the last 2 years. $1,000 isn't bad, even if you just sit on it for years. If you go for it, document it with pictures; make it clear the RM27, body numbers, 4-speed hump, and color were there from the beginning.

I agree, this is a no brainer. Buy it for a $1000. Low production and desirable. Its like finding an E body convertible roller for $1000.
