Hey Guys what size fly wheel and clutch/press.plate and bellhousing is reccomended for an auto to 4-speed swap on a 71 440 (internal balance) going into an e-body... Any starter issues to consider ?? Also is anyone still selling the pilot bushing for the auto crank to manual trans conversion... napa seems to have discontinued them...
We're more concerned with function on the street over originality...
Thanks shawn

I guess that would also need a 130t flywheel ?

what about the flywheel ?? Is there a difference in application between a 143 tooth and a 130 tooth... everything I read seems to conflict..
this is an internal balanced 440 engine...
I have a 513 bellhousing and now a 10 1/2 clutch... so which flywheel is best? Yes i know I'm working backwards here

The 143T flywheel won't work in the 513 bellhousing. You need the 130T wheel.

The 143 tooth is an 11" unit. The 130 is a 10.5". The scalloped pp(10.95") uses a 130 tooth flywheel with a 10.5 pattern. If you have a nuetral balance engine, you need a nuetral balance flywheel. Just put the bushing designed to go in the torque converter register of the crank. http://www.brewersperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=PB876&cat=16 I wouldn't recommend the needle bearing here. You are probably going to have to cut the first 3/4" or so off the pilot end of the input shaft of the trans. Bevel the edge. Measure first, there is a good chance there is already a M/T crank in there right now. Then you only need to put a atandard pilot bushing in there and you are done. MB

I would use a reconditioned OEM flywheel from Brewers or Passon INSTEAD of a new not made in USA flywheel.
After asking zillion questions about aftermarket flywheels, this was the route I went. I used the Brewer's 130T recon and I'm thrilled with it.
