can anyone measure the O.D. of the pump drive hub on your 727 converter. this is the hub that the pump seal fits over.

thanks wild bill. mine is 1.874. My trans is leaking again. Im trying to figure it out. going crazy. I have had everything checked. Im beginning to think my case is bad. I just checked the converter. Its a 8" tci rebuilt by ptc. No cracks in the welds anywhere. the flex plat has only .003 runout and front to back runout .008. the case had some scratches in the bottom of the front sealing ring surface. We sanded the scratches out. I took the trans to a very good trans expert. he thought the pump ring did not fit good enough. It stayer dry for about one trip down the driveway.

I had the same problem, turned out the converter was cracked at the base of the hub that goes into the crank. welded it up no problems since. I found the crack by pressure testing the converter at my machine shop.

I can't find the source, but I believe the spec range is 1.872” to 1.875” dia.

But I would look to something else for the cause rather than the diameter.

This is not a bash, but wasn't it PTC that had some converters leaking through welds a while back?

I would bet the converter is the cause. Friend of mine has 2 race cars. Both with 727's i built him And both started leaking out the bellhousing. He has 8" ptc converters in them. Both had cracks around the hub that goes into the crank. He just carried one back to Kenny yesterday for him to weld up.
