just jack the back of the car up so the fluid runs forward in the trans , clean it good with brake cleaner and get permatex ultra blue or ultra copper and let if cure , 24 hrs , before putting the rear back on the ground .
I did this a couple years ago to my sons car worked great, just make sure to get it clean and dry.

I'll give it a shot. I'll drain some fluid from the pan to get the level below this point. So it will remain dry after clean-up.
Any other advice on the o-ring replacement if the silicon doesn't work?
Thx
I did the same fix with JB Weld! Same advice, raise the rear to keep fluid away from that area. Clean real well with brake cleaner/carb cleaner/laquer thinner (some strong solvent) and blow dry real well. I was worried that the shaft needed to rotate to some degree but it doesn't. The fix worked for years.

I'm almost hesitant to say it, but it's been a week and I haven't seen a drip yet.
I took the silicone advice. Cleaned it real good with brake cleaner, wiped it down, then put on a dab of Permatex Ultra Black.
This will be a miracle if it holds, I thought I had fixed in the past. Granted this is a different spot.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks for the help.
