Looks like a head gasket blew In my Aries with a 2.2,what should a shop normally charge to fix It? I'd do It myself, but just don't have the time to do that right now.

depending on how hot the motor got if everything is ok, you will almost always need to have the head milled if its not cracked prob around 1000 dollars
Yep,looks like around $1.200,looks like she will be scrapped, because It's not worth that much, car Is like new,and low mileage, but not worth the expense

Just did a compression test, and all cylinders are within 15 lbs,the lowest being 130lbs,with a little oil fouling on one plug, but all are holding pressure,so It's not a head gasket Now i have to figure out where all the antifreeze Is going, and why It spikes hot, then goes back to normal

First of all, need to take the head off to see if it is cracked. If it is, yeah it will run around $1000-$1200. I was lucky though. Did the same to my '93 Ply. Acclaim. Took the head off and sent it to a machine shop. There, they checked to see if it is cracked, checked good. Then the machine shop re-surface it and cleaned it up. Total cost-$200. I put a better head gasket on from Mopar(new one is a better material and thickness) for $40. New head bolts with washers from Mopar-$20. Installed a new thermo and H2O pump for $40. A lot of cussing and patients but the car runs COOL now. All in all, roughly about $400 total with the parts as mentioned and new belts, oil change, and supplies

That was you doing your own labor though,I just don't have the time or patience right now to do It myself,i will take It to a shop and have the cooling system pressure checked

Put a new thermostat in,and i noticed no coolant coming out, when i took out the old one,so I put a new one in,as soon as I started It,the coolant in the radiator, came running out of the filler neck, the car hasn't been run since yesterday,so everything was not hot.

You want to pressurize the cylinder which most likely will induce the air into the radiator. Maybe you need to bring it to a place for a qualified diagnosis.

That's a nice looking Aries ....... wait, did I just say that?
Anyway, I wish you were closer so I could hang out under the hood (my daily ride is an '86 Daytona Turbo Z C/S). I've kind of gotten used to working in the cramped quarters of the k-car style Dodges.
After changing the t-stat you need to burp the system. If your head doesn't have a burp plug behind the stat (some didn't) or is stuck (most are), then I would recommend pulling the t-stat back out, drilling a 1/16-1/8 hole in it, and putting it back in.
The cooling systems in these cars are 1) not simple, and 2) fail often. Make sure the fan is kicking on (if not, there is a fan relay).
If it isn't spitting fluid to the outside, make sure the fluids aren't mixing up on the inside. The heater cores and radiators plug often. I would be more willing to change a head gasket than a heater core. Half the interior has to come out of the car to change the heater core. But you live in Florida, so just bypass the heater core.
Hope this helps.

A cooling system pressure tester may help, but Ive seen some leak so slowly it was hard to see.Do you notice it run rough at cold start? Sometimes they will seep into the comb. chamber and misfire for a few seconds at cold start then run fine the rest of the day.
A couple of times before this started,It would not start on It's own, untill i gave It some gas,but being a fuel Injected motor, you should just turn the key,and away It goes,I was told to take out the thermostat, which i did tonight, fill the block, which i did,and pull the plugs and coil wire, and turn it over, and If It's blown, the cylinder that has a problem will spit coolant out the spark plug hole,It got too dark,so I;ll see what happens tomorrow,THANKS for all the info guys!!!! It's a good little car,but It's driving me nuts

Why would you consider scrapping a car rather than making the time to do the repair? Even if it takes some time, that car looks in nice shape!
Second, are you even sure you've toasted a head gasket? You said in your original post you thought you popped a head gasket. What makes you think that???
I was P.Od at It when i said I was going to scrap It,but the thing Is only worth so much, the reason,i thought It was a head gasket, was It overheated, and there was no coolant leaks.
Anyhow, went to start It,and no coolant comes out of the plug hole,so back to square one,I have another 86 Aries with 86.000 miles,I might have them sent out and just do a drivetrain swap,i found the other Aries In a salvage yard, and It runs good, but doesn't have a title
