she just needs barings and head gaskets and i will get head studs as i think it is time for the bolts to be replaced. i will give the parts a good cleaning and start to reassemble for next yr.the head bolts were not as tight as thay should be but i have not had to retorque them in the past and have checked them.

I aint never had that much intrusion of combustion gases onto the face of a copper gasket....like you were saying either not enough tension on the bolts or some serious detonation..though pistons all look fine, correct...with the amount of water getting into the cylinders also you must have had a sealing problem.....I always use permatex 300 slathered on all 4 surfaces and never a water, oil or cumbustion leak before. http://www.permatex.com/products/Automot...ket_Sealant.htm

How much use is on this motor MS??
about 4 dyno pulls and 7 passes.i am sure the head bolts were loose from the start and i should have noticed it on the dyno.the head bolts[ARP] are older[10 yrs] with about 8 retorques.

I'd be lookin' at why those bearings don't show a little more even wear across the surface. Crank flexing, block flexing, caps walking, tapered or hourglass journals... gotta' be a reason. I'd mic that crank all over all its journals, maybe set the block up for a light swish with the line hone to see if the main line is still straight.

Seduce the attractive, and charm the rest.
