Okay, I've read a lot here lately regarding timing lights being inaccurate when working with an MSD ignition.
I run an MSD Digital 6 plus ignition, and have a simple Actron inductive timing light. Am I getting an accurate reading?

Well, I'm certainly no 'expert' on the subject, but it would seem "logical" that since the pulse coming from the MSD module to the number 1 plug would be the same "pulse" you would get from a standard coil, the timing light wouldn't "know" the difference.
I had a 64 Fury some years ago which had the Chrysler elect ign on it and had no problem setting the timing....I don't know why that would be any different than the MSD, as far as the use of a timing light.
Then again, like I said, I surely ain't no 'expert'. Good luck.

I've heard of problems when useing "dial back" timing lights, i too am no exspert on this, but you should be fine useing a stardard type inductive timing light.

The MSD can affect lights. It has multiple sparks at idle. Why do you think its called MSD.Multi spark dischare compared to stock ignition. My old Craftsman and my SnapOn lights work with mine. That and once you get over I believ 3K it fires like a normal ignition.Rocky

I've never had any issues with a timing light, but MSD very specifically states in the instructions to never use a volt/ohm meter or test light on the terminals at the coil.

yes I've also heard that MSD wreaks havoc on dial back readings but I'm not aware that if your running MSD that you then need to buy a special light so I'd say your good w your current non dialback one
