A friend of mine has a 66 Coronet that according to him using a gps and it told him that at 1/8 mile he was going 78 mph. The car is a 440 with a 484/284 cam. 3.55 rear and a 750 holley with 9.5 or so compression. It has some kind of very cheap plastic and aluminum pistons. Any idea what it would do in a 1/4. Probably a hard question to answer, had to ask. Also he wants to race my 67 Barracuda, and it has a 383, same cam and rear but smaller dia tires. Does have a 770 holley and 10.5 compression. I don't want to race him fearing the results will reall make him mad. He keeps bugging me. Thanks again Ray

stumpy I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 32,934 Grand Prairie,Texas	My 4400lb truck is doing 78 mph in the 1/8 at 8.98 et. Which translates to about a 14.00 1/4 mile. I don't know if this would be any example for his car.

My 408 stroker in my 68 fastback runs 8.20 at 86.41 in the 1/8 and 12.74 at 108.52 in the 1/4, on a 26 inch street tire with a 3.23 gear, Losing isn't the end of the world there is ALWAYS someone faster out there. best of 11.39 at 117 mph 1.60 60’. 68 340 S Barracuda Fastback F.A.S.T [IMG]http://i67.tinypic.com/2mnnnnt.jpg[/IMG]

Tell him if he wants his car to run yank that poo poo cam and get a cheap Summit 488 cam. He'll drop over a second off his et. Both of you should be runing at least a 3000 stall. The GPS speed will be slightly higher at the 1/8 and 1/4 mile traps. Something to keep in mind. We are brothers and sisters doing time on the planet for better or worse. The cam pulls great. I went from 14.19 to 13.38 with a swap alone. I had the mopar 484 9:1 440 w/ 906 heads, headers, CH4b intake and eddy 750. I swaped the cam for the 488 and that was it. Later I added fresh air, dropped me to 13.11 then a 750DP to 12.90. (67 coronet)
