The repair manuals aren't going to tell you if you can do it or not. At the very least, you need to remove motor mount bolts and jack up engine, I would think. I actually removed the pan on my Bronco, replaced the oil pump and put the pan back on. I cursed heavily. Very heavily. The pump didn't prime (even though I preprimed and lubed it) so I took it to a mechanic, and low and behold it started up fine for him on the first try. He told me the books said you couldn't drop the pan without pulling the engine. I got it done in one and a half days, laying in the dirt and cursing. And this was on a Bronco with lot's of clearance. I'd crawl underneath and take a good look. I don't know what tools you have or skills you have, but at least look good and hard at it. Exhaust, motor mounts, radiator fan and shroud, trans lines, k -member and all. Everything. Just remember, about half the crank is going to be hanging down where the pan meets the block, so consider that in you clearence issues, as well as the oil pick up tube goes all the way to the bottom of the pan. Not trying to scare you, but I almost gaurentee it is going to be a tight, curse inducing fit.
