There is a guy with a cheap 72' 360 for sale in my area. I want to build a stroker motor. Would a truck motor be a good start for the build? I dont know mileage, or condition yet. Thanks, Ken

Sure, why not? The truck oil pan and pickup is different and the exhaust manifolds may be as well, but so what, it's unlikely that you'll reuse any of these parts anyway. If it were up to me about the only things I would be reusing would be the block, timing cover and depending on condition maybe the fuel pump eccentric. Everything else would be aftermarket.

Early truck engines came with a factory shot peened crank that is more desirable. The last three numbers of the part # is 640 and has an X embossed on one of the throws.A friend had a 640 tricked by a crank shop and shifts at 8800 RPM,runs 6.36 in 1/8 mile in a 69 Dart. That is with a Cast crank!

If he's building a stroker the crankshaft doesn't matter.
