After 21 years of Drag Racing it seems that I have just completely lost interest in it, mostly due to the fact that we run around every day with our 10 year old boy's sports. The only thing we do is go get ice cream in it every now and then. I think the best thing for me to do is to start over with a clean slate, I've seen street cars with a roll bar that didn't have the cross bar so you can utilize the back seat, with kickouts at the bottom of the main hoop for strength, or maybe a bolt in bar. Front bucket seats that tilt forward to get in the back seat, electric window kit, maybe a stick shift tranny , street tires maybe fat ones at all 4 corners, or bigs and littles?? It would have to be a mild pump gas motor so maybe a small block turbo that could be driven anywhere and still be fast. I want something I can DRIVE, with the family in it, no slicks, no oil pan or headers dragging the ground, maybe a BobsProFab front end with custom headers and oil pan for ground clearance. Slicks, spooled rear ends, no back seat, loud and obnoxious, headers dragging, it's all fine when you're racing alot, but it gets annoying just watching it sit under a car cover all the time. Although I might run it this weekend finally! What can you guys add to this? I started a pro touring thread awhile back and loved some of the ideas, a new style Hemi with a supercharger would be cool.

Bob, I'm in the same boat and going the same direction. Just having a hard time finding the RIGHT stock type "roller" car. It will be a Mopar and stick shift. BB or SB with A/C. Around 500-600 HP N/A. Finding one turnkey is probably the best option if its built right, but will take some time looking. But......as far as a "street" car goes my favorites on here were Dave's blown Duster, LAR 414's Dart, Chip's HEMI Cuda, Pranis' Charger, UNLAWFL, STEFF's Chally when it was a streeter, Frannie's GTX, Rick's GTX and Jack Iron's Jr's GTX..........those guys got it right. Haven't been on here for a very long time, so I am sure there are more well done street rides I've missed out on. Bob, good luck on your quest....... Wes

hey Wes! "so maybe a small block turbo that could be driven anywhere and still be fast." Hmm..sounds EXACTLY like my build! My requirements for my turbo build are AC/PS/PB, nice sound system, good idle (.540 lift, .224 duration, 114 lsa), 3.54 gears, quiet, but still run 9's when needed.

I love my Dart and I'll definitely enjoy it this year and 'maybe' next summer but I need to make a change soon, it would take way too much money to convert this car to what I want to do, it would be easier to use the money to start over. I love the new Chally's and may go that route, but it would be weird for me not to have an old muscle car. I think the stick shift would be fun but the car will have to have some steam, I've driven 12 second stick shift cars and in my opinion they are not as fun as a 9 second auto. I've been searching for info this week on the whipple chargers but haven't found much for Mopar kits, and the Brand X kits seam pricey$$$. Butch I would do that but I think in the long run I'd miss wrenching in the garage. Quote:

I like those requirements!!
Thumper, I've spent my whole life loving the stuff you mentioned but it just doesn't do much for me anymore.

man, i really like your dart as is though
Thanks Josh, I've sold some nice Mopars but this one I'm pretty attached to, it's gonna take awhile to make a decision LOL. Most people would be thrilled to own a car like this that can be driven on pump gas, run 9's through the exhaust on a 10.5 tire, and fit right in at car shows but I just don't have time to use it more than 3 or 4 times a year, kind of a waste. Your Duster looks awesome!
