It was a long day for sure, but all I can say is there should be a large change over to E-85 My carb went on this morning, I flushed the lines, installed, set float level and success! the car fired right up, small idle screw adjustment and car idled beautiful. Got to the track and unloaded with a 6.09 @ 111.0 I woulda predicted a 6.10-6.08 on gas with similar air. Made a squirter change from 37 to 42 cause the car seemed lazy at the hit to 2 step and changed high speed air bleeds to 28 from 27. Second pass 6.06. Bumped jetting from 94 square to 95/96. 3rd pass 6.06. Car got staged a bit deep so I woulda considered it a 6.05. No changes to car for 4th time run, and 6.05 again. On dash for cash I put a 6.06 on car and went 6.058. 1st rnd of quick 32 6.05 dial and red light 6.052. 1st rnd of super pro 6.05 dial and on brakes at stripe 6.061 gave up stripe by .0062 and woulda been 6.051. Buy back for super pro 6.05 dial 6.052 pass after opponent red light. 3rd round 6.05 dial and track had gone away at starting line 6.07. Consistency has definetly been found and it is nice to not have to cool car when it gets back to pits. I was leaving line at 170 degrees finish line at 178, and by time I would ease back to pit spot I was already back to 174 I made plenty of passes on the car and estimate that it cost me about $14.00 in fuel. Needless to say I am quite pleased with the initial results and can't wait to see the 1/4 mile performance and continue to fine tune this thing.

This really validates my decision to run the stuff. Very nice to see. Now.........if I could just get all my machine work done and make some laps. That is a model of consistency right there. Great job.

My PerformAire box has been down so I could not answer that, but was hearing that the changes throughout the day were not significant.

I made plenty of passes on the car and estimate that it cost me about $14.00 in fuel.
This is my fuel cost comparison for a typical 5 passes down the 1/4 mile plus warm up time/fuel. My 511 drinks some fuel, and a smaller motor should use less.
110 Gas: (5 passes x 0.7 gal/pass + 0.5 warmup) x $7.75/gallon = $31 Methanol:(5 passes x 1.5 gal/pass + 1.0 warmup) x $2.70/gallon = $23 Pump E85:(5 passes x 1.0 gal/pass + 0.5 warmup) x $2.55/gallon = $14
On a cool day, I have seen guys burning lots of methanol to warm up their motors, even between passes. So that 1.0 gallons is minimum for methanol, IMO. And I have seen reports around the country selling E85 for $1.99/gallon. But it is more expensive in Maryland. http://e85prices.com/
Cheap hot rod fuel for high compression engines. Mine is 13.5 CR. So if you make 150 passes per year, that should save at least $500/year compared to race gas.

Great results! I'm thinking about converting one or all of my toys to E85, there's a station not too far away. IIRC E85 cannot be sold profitably without the .50/gallon government subsidy, I suppose when they figure out how to run the John Deere harvesting equipment on E85 instaed of Deisel they'll really be on to something!! also related....here in NC it is nearly impossibnle to find a gas station that doesn't pump "up to 10%" ethanol in the normal blend. What's "bad" about that is it's a cheap octane spike for gas but it's btu output is likely to somewhat diminish the MPG of conventional fueled vehicles....so ironically in this green environment (when you consider the 'macro' picture) this is assisting the big oil companies to sell a lot more Gas! Is there any "definative" write up on a start to finish conversion? What else inthe fuel system needs converting?

That`s great. I don`t have access to E-85 locally and if I did, I`d definately be trying it out.
same here would save a bunch on race fuel.
