1995 dodge 1500 with a 5.9 engine. I can't get the fan clutch nut off. Does anyone know if this vehicle used reverse threads??

Hammer and long punch. Put the punch on the edge of a flat on the the nut and hit it toward the pssenger side. One hard quick hit aught to do it.

I understand all gas engines are standard thread. Some Cummins may be left hand.

I just did an '06 Durango. It was a bear. My usual method - hit the wrench with a hammer didn't work. I tried the punch method except with an air impact hammer. Didn't work. I finally made a pulley holding tool - steel strip from the arm of a retired garage door opener with 2 studs to engage the holes in the pulley. With a long handle on the holding tool and a cheater on the wrench I got it.

All the Gas engines are right hand thread,...only the diesels are left hand thread,....generally a 36 MM fan wrench makes life easy, avaliable at most Autozone stores "free" to use with a deposit returned, when brought back

I've seen some "factory" assys with red loctite on the nuts threads, just use a simple hand held propane torch to heat up the loctite, to break the chemical bond, small amount of heat

They are right as said.Ive removed hundreds.I use my air chisel with a long chisel.Just bump it on the flats and when they come loose they spin off. When I install them just spin it on and a bump with the chisel tightens them. You need a chises on the air hammer.Just get a flat where it easy to get to and move the fan blade till you can get to it.This should be put in the archives as its asked probally 5 times a week. All left hand threads have a sticker or its embossed on the shroud.Rocky

Just did my 01 Ram.. what a nightmare..
I own a wrench nig enough, but it would not come loose, I finally resorted to the air chisel method and it came loose..
BUT,
when I went to install the new one, it screwed on easily about 5 turns and locked up...
Dont know if the pump shaft was nicked from the air chisel or the threads in the new clutch were bad...
Anyway,
I had to borrow the proper wrenchs from a dealer mechanic to finish tighting it up..
One has two pins to go into the water pump pulley, the other wrench the nut wrench..
