Great job on getting the right parts and installing them yourself. You should notice a nice performance and drivability improvement. You've taken the right path.
Now, you can adjust your carburator's air fuel screws to match them to your new timing and enjoy your ride. If you're still getting a gas knock, you can add some 110 octane race gas until it goes away. Start with 2 gallons a tank. It's cheap insurance.
