I know it has been asked a million times and believe me, I did check the archives and search. I just can't find it.

I have a 383/727 with a 2.76 rear.

I have the Bouchillon cable and their carb bracket.

My car shifts:
1-2 @ 25mph
2-3 @ 40+mph

Which way do I move the bracket that holds the throttle pressure cable? Towards or away from the carb?

Kickdown length too long = late shift, quicker kickdown.
Kickdown length too short = early shift, reluctant to kick down (and hard on trans).
Slotted lever should rest against shaft with throttle closed, held fairly tight by spring. That's approximate, can be fine-tuned from there.

OP has a Bouchillon cable, not stock linkage.

The further back the trans lever is at any throttle setting the later it will shift, you want to adjust the cable so the trans lever is further forward.

Thank you John. I appreciate that. I may have it just a tiny bit too tight. What should I try, like 1/8th inch looser?

Loosen it up a little at a time until you are happy with the shift points.
