Thanks Pettyblue....Still seems unfair to the guys that want to keep them looking original (even in the trunk) Oh well, it is what it is I guess.

So Dave, I'm sure you know so I gotta ask, is Lane's Mustang running legal? I know the deal is that you can "run what ya brung" and don't have to pass any pre-race (FAST Legal) tech, and that typically you only get inspected if you run a big number or someone calls you out. So what's the story with that Mustang? If that thing is running legal, holy smokes! How did he do it?

Scott , my understanding is once you pass 11.70 you get looked at closely for casting numbers and such , but also that there is a tech of sorts , there are a few things that that car seems to have that should be corrected , some things are allowed to slide in the name of SAFETY , like WILWOOD brakes ...

Yea, I too am impressed that the Mustang made such an awesome run, but the slight visual clues I see in those pics made me wonder if he went though the same pains as some of the others went through in keeping everything looking stock appearing (see Dave's hidden fuel cell-lots of work!). Maybe the Mustang would have trouble passing a technical inspection if called on the carpet after making such a run? I think it should have been inspected if it wasn't. I'd hate to see the FAST cars begin to look like retired Stock Eliminator cars (fuel cells, etc.) with a fresh paint job and some stock wheels and tires to make them look "Stock" on the outside only.

Did they come stock with a bump steer kit? Anything else that's not factory appearing under there?

Who's whining? Just asking questions. Did it pass safety tech or the FAST legal tech?

I agree with Steve(cjfordman). I missed Musclepalooza, but I had a chance to see Lane's car at several of last years events and was VERY impressed. Anyone who finds fault with it from an appearance standpoint needs to get their eyes checked. It's every bit as legit as anyone else that is running.

Then again, what do I know. Congratulations Dave! Sorry I missed you out there.

HP, agree with what? No need to take sides, I didn't form an opinion of the car, I simply asked some (IMO quite legitamate) questions concerning how it accomplished such a quick time all the while staying legal. Yes, I also questioned the fuel cell mentioned by another poster, and the obviously non original tie rods that made one wonder what else might be unique about his suspension.

Concerning the comment about me "Starting Trouble", well if there's nothing wrong, then there's no "trouble", where's the crime in making a simple observation or asking questions? Seems more like someone is being overly sensitive about my questions, guilty conscience perhaps?

There you go trying to stir things again .You don't know what your talking about on this FAST racing I know all the racers and have a car also. You think the Ford is cheating for running so fast but never say anything about the hemi.Well they are both legal as well as the other cars.Only a couple GM cars have been caught cheating.

First of all you need to relax. Yes, THIS time I meant to do a little tonque in cheek but it was all in good fun. You are preaching Fords on a Mopar site, you will need thicker skin than you are displaying at the moment. Who'd question that Ford running with a Hemi? Oh I don't know, maybe EVERYBODY?

......As to what I know or don't know, well that's debatable , but I've been following FAST since it's inception, I didn't just get interested while reading this thread this morning, we likely know quite a few of the same people.

I think its great to see a Ford in the thick of it challenging the top guns. I mean we have a Ford , GM and of course Dave's awesome Hemi all running 10.30's or better. This is like the Pro Stock wars of 1970 and its good to see. I gotta say that Mustang is one sweet machine and you have to like how well Lane has it running. But it sure is good to see Dave's sweet Runner kicking butt and in the #1 spot. Ron

ok read the rules closely and you can up size the tire. Nice Ford, but the Hemis the one to beat.

well to me what is the differance in it not being stock looking under the trunk lid and it being stock looking under the hood? by that reasoning i guiess every one can put there battrys and other ballase weight in the trunk for weight and for everyone to see? and just a plastic shell under the hood

Sounds like the streets all over again. Your average Hemi out of the box show room ran just that, average, but a well tuned HEMI set on kill was the one to beat.
I personally like that the class has a bunch of makes gunning to fasten their flag on mount F.A.S.T.

That Mustang is on patrol to win the hearts and minds of many, but we're sleeping on the GM boyz at the moment. I suspect they are watching and wrenching in a dark garage with an eye for the prize. Has any one heard of the L88 or Zl's where abouts lately?
I love it, though my money will always be on that Black car. Sorry I am bias, but I love cars that are any color as long as they are BLACK LOL.
I loved and respected that Pesky Ford, shoooo, it sounded darn nasty when idling in the pits.
