I was looking at cams and thought the 528 solid maybe a good cam for my 340 project. I believe it would have better vacumn and be more street worthy than the mopar 509. Any one here using this cam???

I ran a 528 in my 360 and was very happy with it. Great street manners and was much tamer on the street than the 509.

I had a 360 with 2.02 valved J heads, Eddy Performer air gap, headers, KB107 flat tops with the block milled to zero deck, and a Holly 650 on it in a lifted 4x4 truck with that 528 MP cam and LOVED it! I am re-using that cam in a 340 I am building right now. I hope it does as well as it did in my 360. The 360 idled with a slight lope, had loads of torque right off of idle and pulled hard to about 6200. I would highly recommend it

My fathers 408 stroker has that cam. The engine is very well mannered and easy (to me at least) to drive on the street, even with a converter that flashes at 4500 rpm.

Ryan "Bigs" '73 Duster (BLKDUST) - Black, 100% factory sheet metal, flat hood, 346 cid, J Heads, and a bench seat. http://s268.photobucket.com/albums/jj1/bigsbigelow/ Best to date: 12.40 @ 109 mph

I'm running a .528 in my 408 and am very pleased with it. Have to idle at 1,100 but good vacuum.

My old set up with the 528 was as follows:

1963 Valiant
3250 lbs w/driver
360 bored 030 over
Keith Black hypereutectic pistons / 10.3 compression
stock rods and crank rotating assembly is balanced
stock J heads with mild porting
Mopar 284^ / 0.528" Solid cam
stock mech. rockers from an old 273
Weiand Action Plus dual plane intake
750 Holley w/ vacuum secondaries
Spitfire shorty headers running thru full length 2.5" exhaust
A-904 tranny w/ 2.77 first gear set
10" ATI converter
3.91 gears with 26.1" tall ET Streets

This combo ran consistent 12.40-12.50's at Quaker City in Salem, Ohio

I am running a purple shaft 571 solid lift with 304 duration in my 340. It is a street car it sounds awesome. The only down fall is you need a huge converter to run it. I would imagine the 528 will be a good cam for you

How much converter would you need?

I have a 4000 stall and don't think it's enough. People tell me I need a bigger converter. I cant really tell if it's big enough I unfortunately have not drove it on the street with the 4000 stall. I just got the new motor put in the car. Sorry this probably is not much help. I would say 4500 would probably be ideal.

I run that cam in my 360 with Edelbrock heads, Torquer II intake, KB107 pistons, in a 3100 lb Dart Sport. The car has a 904 trans with 4500 stall convertor and 4.88 gears and runs 7.50's in the 1/9 and 11.80's in the 1/4.
