To answer the legal question, no these races are in no way legal.

This video is from Birka Cup which is held 5-6times/year during the summernights in Stockholm.
There is a once a year event called Stockholm Open, but that race isn't legal either so I think that you might have misunderstood that if you've heard about it.

Also, I have some pics of the Challenger in the video with a overly refreshed girl posing in front of it, but I don't think that I can post it here? (no shirt on )

yep thats some good pics

and like you say these races are in no way legal, i think geting a localtrack with alot of time open would take most fast cars of the street in this area pretty quickly but the old traditional stockholm open will probably not disaper nomather what, its for the guys that are serious about proving they have the fastest streetdriven and somewhat reliable car around

There is a better vid of when the black Camaro catches fire after doing its burnout. All the people block the cop car on the shoulder so they can hook the car to a truck and get it out of there.

Race is called the Birka Cup...its a race that takes the entire summer to do because of the obvious challenges...

Children children anything risky done without respect will get you hurt.

A famous drag racing person was still involved in $treet racing last I knew, making good $$$$. If course he is older now so there is a paid driver driving his $treet race vehicle.

My famous friend has told me lots of interesting tidbits about the racing days of the 60-70-80s including back in the 60's when he supported his family off of $treet racing while racing professionally.

Real $treet racing is done quietly and cautiously with few witnesses.

Not a hundred tracks nearby would stop people from racing in Stockholm open or Birca cup. Theres more prestice (sp) in winning one of these races than going 6 sec in the 1/4.
Aldough for me its just as exiting going to the track.

you have a pretty good point there actualy
to be honest i think its very exciting stuff to watch but i still think that most of the smaller end streetraces would go away with someting like malmös meca raceway being open alot here around stockholm but for sure birka and stockholm open would probably not go away even if there is not alot of money in it,its mostly about braging rights..

not sure about that but they are not very comon, stockholm used to have one tullinge raceway and birkacup kind of started out as a protest when it got closed down the first time, then it opened again for a few years and got closed down for the reason that there was going to be apartments built there, but that still havent happend..
as is right now the closest one is kjula i think wish is open about 5-6times in one year and its about 100-120km from stockholm, notexactly sure but its an estimate on how far away it is.

Well thats an interesting way to do it, but whatever works. Simply awesome. Sure is a whole lotta crazy american muscle overseas...

Its probably a good thing that the street racing around here got so insane it got shut down just a few years ago, if it started up again next weekend it'd pretty much derail my whole life again. Ah who the hell am i kidding, i'd start it up myself tomorrow night if my car was running.
