Anyone running
Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R Tires
on the street? Hhow do they perform around corners, how do they work in the wet?
Need sticky 15" tires and there is not much out there.

Problem is I do not dragrace. I want to be able to go around turns and still drive in the rain. The Nittos are the NT555R I guess. Do they work in the wet and around turns?

I run 29x15x15 M/T sportsman SR radials on 12" rims on my lowerd/tubbed 85 stepside truck

26x8x15 on 7" rims in front

work way better in the rain than the sportsman/sportsman pro tires

they have not hydro planed in the wet yet, unlike the sportsman pros I had last..about 35-40 mph in the wet with them and hydro bad

the SR radial in the wet are up to 55-65 mph and have not hydro yet,I feel very comfortable in the rain at some speed with them

they have been on for a little over a yr and are wearing very little on the back...front end is wearing the front cause of bad alinement

I run about 25lbs of air in the back and have no traction problems..my 318 is not gonna break them loose for sure...but i can drop the air some to get a good bite on the wet road

my pros hooked good at 12-16 lbs of air but would get on the top end at speed

the SRs are a better rubber compound just for the street and tubbed/wide rims and wear well with cornering...so they said

my pros only lasted 14 mounths with daily driveing and wore in the middle with 20 lbs of air..which is max on the tire

for longjevity and wet weather..well worth the $$$

side walls look fine, and handle fine around corners, I don't drive in the rain but the reveiws seem to say they are good in rain.

I've had on my 325 MT DR's on for nearly 5 years. Same tires. Rain sucks. I don't do many burn outs. Been down the track maybe...10 or 15 times. They are still good to go for this year..

@sunroofgtx:
are you sure we are talking the same tire? Yours look like the "ET Street Radial". That one is listed as a race tire opposite to the Sportsmans I am asking for which are listed as street tires. They highlight the flamed thread for improved wet traction

I ran them for a few months but not a lot of mile and my truck only sees dry weather so I can't say how they handle in the rain. But, for normal driving, they seemed fine.

I have a customer who is running the 29x18x15 (I think that is the correct size) MT SR and they are not sticky at the track or on the street according to him.He had another set of MT Sportsman Pros that are bigger that where not sticky either He just bought another set of rims(15x150 and tires, MT drag radials 12.25x31.25x15R for the track Maybe he will chime in on how the car drives on the street and the wet, if he has driven it in the wet

I have not driven in the rain with them. But they drive excellent on the street. The agressive tread pattern they have would be great in the wet. Not worth a hoot at the track though. For just street driving I think you would like them.
