I have a 360/380 hp crate engine in my D-50 truck. I was running 5.14 gears and my best E.T. in the 1/8 was a 7.46 @ 91 mph. I shift at 5600 rpm. Last weekend I put 3.50 gears in it. I went to T&T tonight and run it. How much do you think it slowed down ? I crossed the finish line in 2nd gear.

Not much,(at tenth or two max) especailly if your spinning the tires with the 5:14 gears

You may of increased your ET. 5.14 gears are pretty steep, and can make that first gear pretty useless depending on tire size and tranny gear.

You know this allready, I can tell.

Your first gear is your Best accelerating gear.

With a switch in axel gearing even a second gear tranny combo can equal a first gear tranny combination for a equal gear multiplication. mike

My best ET with the 5.14 was 1.54 60 ft. 7.46 @ 91 mph crossing the finish line at about 6000 rpm in high gear. It has a 904 trans. Last night with the 3.50 gears I had a best of 1.65 60ft., 7.66 @ 90mph crossing the stripe in 2nd gear. It has 315/60 15 M/T drag radials on it.

The first pass I made it felt so sick I thought I had it second gear. I also tried something else last night I put my old NOS plate on this week and sprayed it with 47 fuel/53 n2o jets suppose to be 100 shot.

I was surprised it did'nt loose more et. I was expecting 7.80's/7.90's.
