I just got a MP bathtub gasket (stamped Fel-Pro btw ). It comes with 2 plates to block the heat crossover. How do you attach them? RTV?
Also, coating both sides with gasgacinch, good idea?
Thanks

I would not use the plates to block the crossover. Summit sells a gasket that has it blocked already.

The Fel-Pro (1215 i believe) is a one-piece tin pan thats blocked off too. Thats what i've always used. Too easy.

Thanks everyone, I ordered the 1214 and I'll send the MP back to Summit.

Yeah, i ordered the MP pan years ago. Assumed it was like the Fel-pro. Boy, was i dissapointed when i opened the box and saw a regular pan with two square pieces of metal provided

I never understood the two pieces of THICK (about .031 as I recall)metal and how that was supposed to work with out cracking the manifold or leaking terribly.
As others have stated, the Felpro 1215 (for the 440) is the way to go!

I've been known to cram a bunch of foil in the crossover.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm getting ready to do some of the first real engine work I've done in many years. What is the advantage of blocking the crossover? More over, what is the dis-advantage of leaving them open? Thanks, and sorry for the hi-jack

If you use your car in the colder months a lot it warms up faster. If not it can boil the gas at the carb in certain setups.

There is also the HP factor. A colder air/fuel charge is denser--makes more power. The colder intake/carb will make more power.

I think a BESTer idea is to just FILL the crossover in the intake with some junk aluminum piston that you melted down.

And I read about that HERE ...on moparts !

You might notice a slightly longer warm up period from a cold start. The crossover blocked may not be real noticeable on a daily driver, but it can add a tenth at the track.

If you are running an unmolested stocker you need not worry because the crossover cokes shut thanks to Mopar sloppy valve stem clearances.

As to anything from MP they cranked the prices up to insane levels to make up for sagging car and truck sales.

If the quality was there it might be worth it but ...
