finishing my restoration and I put a new gas tank in and sending unit in. I put 12 gal of gas and the gauge only register 1/8th of a tank. any ideas I surely don't want to put in another sending unit. Thanks

12 is half a tank?

Take out the sending unit and bend the float wire down.

I think it holds 19 gallon

jump the metal flat face of the sending unit to the fuel line to confirm that it is not a ground issue before opening it up but w all the sending unit difficulties I'd say as said it needs to come out and check it's ohms w the arm all the way down/up & iirc you want 73 "down" and 10 "up" plus you can plug in the hot wire and ground it w a jumper wire w alligator clips on each end and move it up and down and have a helper watch the gauge up front (key on) and see what he sees. You want very close to those ohm amts before you bend the arm.
